Why Travel Privately?

The Same Scotland. A Very Different Experience.

Private touring gives you the convenience of a planned Scotland day without sharing the experience with people you have never met.

Your guide is there for your group alone. That means more conversation, more room to follow the stories that interest you and more flexibility around the pace where the itinerary allows.

Only Your Party Your guide and vehicle are reserved exclusively for you
Your Own Guide Ask more questions and go deeper into the stories
More Flexible Pace Adapt smaller stops and timing where conditions allow
Easier Start & Finish Agreed accommodation collection replaces a shared meeting point
Looking for Something Different?

These Tours Aren’t Your Only Option.

The tours above are ideal when one of our established itineraries already sounds like your perfect Scotland day.

If you want somewhere completely different, want to combine several personal interests, trace family history or create a private multi-day Scotland journey, we can start with a blank page instead.

Private Day Tour FAQs

The main things to know about your private vehicle, collection arrangements, flexibility and booking.

Read Our Terms & Conditions
Is the tour completely private to my group?

Yes. When you book one of these private day tours, the vehicle and driver-guide are reserved for your party alone.

Other Scotland’s Wild customers cannot book seats alongside you.

How many people can join a private day tour?

The current private day-tour vehicles accommodate groups of up to 8 passengers.

One booking reserves the vehicle and guide for your group rather than purchasing individual seats.

Where will my guide collect us?

The private day tours on this page operate from Edinburgh or Glasgow and include agreed collection and return arrangements from accommodation in the relevant city.

Your exact collection arrangements are confirmed with your booking.

How flexible is a pre-designed private tour?

There is considerably more flexibility than on a scheduled group tour because your guide is looking after your party only.

Smaller timing adjustments, walking pace, photography stops and how time is used can often respond to your group and conditions.

Driving times, attraction opening hours, booked entry slots, cruise schedules and other operational factors still limit how much a full-day route can change.

If you want to redesign the itinerary substantially, our personalised private-tour service is the better option.

Are attraction admissions included?

Attraction arrangements differ between tours.

Scotland’s Wild can help organise relevant reservations, but admission charges, cruise tickets, whisky experiences and other third-party costs are normally paid separately unless your booking states otherwise.

Check the individual tour page and your booking details for the exact arrangements applying to your chosen day.

How much deposit do I pay?

Our current private day-tour booking pages allow you to secure the tour with a 25% deposit.

The booking process will show the payment schedule applying to your chosen tour before you confirm.

Can children join a private day tour?

Private touring can be particularly useful for families because the day is built around your own party rather than a shared scheduled group.

Tell us the ages of everyone travelling so that attraction, activity, seating and practical requirements can be checked.

Is the Puffin tour available all year?

No. Puffins are seasonal and the wildlife cruise depends on operating dates, tides and weather conditions.

Check the current private Puffin tour page for live availability and the arrangements applying to your date.

What if none of these itineraries is quite right?

Then you do not need to force your trip into one of them.

Our personalised private-tour service allows us to design around your destinations, interests, dates and travel style.

What are the cancellation terms?

Private-tour cancellation terms differ from scheduled group-tour terms.

Please read the current Scotland’s Wild Terms & Conditions and the booking information supplied for your particular tour before confirming.
