How Our Bespoke Tours of Scotland Work
A private tour with us is your own trip, planned from scratch with our private tours team and led by one of our storytelling guides. Most trips follow the routes our guides know best, such as Glencoe, the Isle of Skye and Loch Ness, with more time where you want it.
Tell us your ideas
Send your dates, who’s travelling and anything you’d love to see. A rough idea is enough to start.
We plan a route and a price
Our private tours team suggests a day-by-day route with hotels and a price for your whole trip.
Shape it together
Swap places, change the pace or upgrade the hotels until it feels right. Nothing is booked until you’re happy.
Your guide meets you
A 25% deposit secures your dates. We book the hotels, ferries and tickets, and your guide collects you on day one.
Ready to start? Our short enquiry form has one notes box for your dates, your group and your ideas. Bullet points are fine.

Who Our Private Tours Are For
Most of our private trips are for two to four people, but we plan for solo travellers and big groups too. Here’s who a private tour suits best.
Couples and friends
Go at your own pace, stop where you like and stay longer at the places you love. Five days for two people is one of the trips we plan most often.
Families with children
Most of our scheduled tours are for ages 12 and over, but private tours have no set minimum age. Tell us everyone’s ages and we’ll plan the days around them.
Groups and celebrations
Family reunions, milestone birthdays and groups of friends, from 9 to 16 in one of our own vehicles, or more with a larger coach.
Ancestry and clan trips
Follow your family name to the glens, castles and villages it comes from. Scottish ancestry tours
Cruise passengers
See more of Scotland from your port, with a private guide and a day planned around your time ashore.
Special interests
Whisky, castles, golf, filming locations or long walks. Tell us what you love and we’ll build the trip around it.
Group Sizes and Vehicles
There’s no upper limit on a private tour. Groups of up to 16 travel in one of our own vehicles, sized to fit, with room for your luggage. For bigger groups we hire larger coaches.
- 1–8guests in one of our 8-seat vehicles
- 9–12guests in one of our 12-seat vehicles
- 13–16guests in one of our 16-seat vehicles
- 17+guests: we hire larger coaches, so no group is too big
Your Private Tour Guide
Your guide is the heart of the trip. They drive, tell the stories, find the short walks and know when to stop for the view. These are some of the storytelling guides our private guests travel with.

Derek
Drawn to mountain peaks, remote landscapes and the wild Western Isles, especially the Outer Hebrides. Derek guides many of our private tours.

Jim
His favourite part of guiding is the moment guests see the Highlands for the first time and say “wow”.

Matt
Became a guide to help other people enjoy the places Scotland has given him. Ask him about the Blue Men of the Minch.

Aila
Loves sharing Scotland’s landscapes and stories with people from all over the world.

John
Brings history to life, from Glencoe to Skara Brae on Orkney, a Neolithic village around 5,000 years old.
You can ask for a guide by name. We’ll always try, but we can’t guarantee it, as it depends on their other trips. Meet all our guides

We recently did a private 5-day highland tour using Scotland's Wild. From first contact they were helpful, cheerful, professional and excited we were booking with them. … Our itinerary was built just for us and our interests, which was also great. But Matt DELIVERED.
We did a private tour, and it was so amazing!! Aila was a wonderful tour guide, and made the experience 5 stars for us. She was so knowledgeable, and made sure we saw everything we wanted to see.
It was an unforgettable trip that me and my friends will cherish forever. Special thanks to our tour guide Jim who filled the tour with smiles, enthusiasm, and great knowledge … I would definitely highly recommend it to anyone who wants a private and flexible tour.
Had the best day on our private tour with John, easily one of the best guides we’ve ever had. He was super knowledgeable, funny, and genuinely made the whole experience amazing.
