The stunning historical town of St Andrews is a must-stop-by destination whilst exploring the east coast of Scotland. The ancient cathedral and castle offer a fascinating historical insight into this magnificent place.
Arrive 8:45am, departure at 9am from Edinburgh.
Our tour begins in Edinburgh at the pick-up location and will depart at 9 am sharp. Driving through Scotland’s 2nd largest city, information about the castle and other interesting sights to see around the city will fill your ears.
Exiting the city, we’ll be crossing the Queensferry Bridge, the newest addition spanning the River Forth. Enjoy the views whilst we’re crossing this uniquely styled bridge.
After the Queensferry Crossing bridges we’ll continue our journey east to the elegant village of Elie, where the locals host cricket matches on the beach when the tide is out.
We take a gorgeous short walk along the coastline, passing by landmarks such as Lady’s Tower and lighthouse, soaking up the spectacular views out over the Firth of Forth and towards the North Sea.
Once we arrive back at the van, there’s no time to lose! We’ll depart swiftly, edging closer to our main destination. Before that, your guide will drive you through some of the fishing villages which are absolutely stunning.
We have arrived in St Andrews! Here you’ll spend time exploring the town, soaking up the historical heritage of the castle, cathedral, and university buildings. And we couldn’t let you forget about the famous Old Course which is the home of golf.
It’s Lunchtime! Your guide will recommend places to grab a bite to eat before we start the return leg of our journey back to Edinburgh.
That doesn’t mean we are done exploring though! Departing St Andrews, we travel inland towards the fascinating Loch Leven National Nature Reserve. We’ll head out for a short walk to a beautiful viewpoint of Lochleven Castle, which Mary Queen of Scots visited during her reign.
After learning about the long history of Loch Leven, we now travel south towards Scotland’s NEWEST city. Yup, you read that right, newest city, Dunfermline. The Abbey has some of Scotland’s most powerful and influential Kings and Queens buried there.
None more so than the main man himself, King Robert the Bruce (Robert I), who is famed for his role during the Wars of Independence.
What a day it has been! Packed full of information and amazing scenery! It is now sadly time to head back to where it all started, Edinburgh. Your guide will drop everyone off at the pickup location from this morning and bid everyone goodnight!

We happily managed to book Experience Scotland’s Wild for a 10 day private tour of Scotland. It would be my 4th trip to Scotland and my partner's first time. John asked me what would be my dream trip, and I threw a huge list at him, and amazingly Scotland’s Wild was able to plan an itinerary that included almost all of the list! They made all the hotel, b&b, and restaurant reservations. We travelled from Edinburgh to Skye, Mull, Iona, Lewis and Harris, and Orkney. Stayed at some beautiful B&B's/hotels and 1 night in a luxury castle. Wonderful scenery, stone circles, and animals (deer, birds, sheep, seals, horses and Shetland ponies, hairy cows, hairy pigs in Orkney). LOVED the Callanish Standing Stones. Since we are Harry Potter fans he booked us a trip on the "Hogwarts Express" train. He was very informative and took good care of my partner who is limited in physical capability. The bus is very clean and comfortable. He is a very caring guide who does his best to make your trip the best it can be! As the weather can be unpredictable at times in Scotland, for your day tour we recommend you bring light waterproof clothing and sturdy hiking boots or shoes. You may also want to bring midge repellent as during certain times of year (primarily April - September) the midges may irritate you. If you’re lucky enough to get a nice sunny day, then some sun cream would be great. If it’s during the colder months, then some warm clothing, gloves and a hat may also be useful.

On your St Andrews, Nature Reserve & Dunfermline Abbey Day Tour, you’ll be out of the vehicle as often as possible. We will be walking around the fascinating sites and hiking at Elie for approx. 1 hour.
Do you have any age restrictions?

If you believe your guide provided you with a great experience then I know they will always appreciate a wee bonus, though it is completely up to you on how much that may be or if you’d like to provide one.
What’s your Day Tour Cancellation Policy?
Any cancellation for our St Andrews, Dunfermline Abbey and Nature Reserve, Adventure group tour, 8 or more days before the tour start day, you will be issued a full refund.
