Start with how much time you have and which part of the Highlands interests you most.
A 1-day tour is ideal for a big introduction to Glencoe, Loch Ness or the west Highlands. The 2-day Loch Ness tour adds an overnight in Fort William, Glenfinnan and more time exploring.
With 3–7 days, you can travel considerably further through the Highlands and combine them with Skye, Inverness and the Outer Hebrides.
Where do your Highland tours depart from?
Our featured Highland adventures include departures from Edinburgh and Glasgow. Different itineraries use different meeting points, check-in times and final drop-off locations.
Some Glasgow multi-day tours finish in Edinburgh, so always check the individual tour page before arranging onward travel.
How much walking is involved?
These are Active Sightseeing tours. We include short walks and opportunities to explore outdoors rather than spending the entire journey inside the vehicle.
Terrain can be uneven, wet, muddy or slippery. You don’t need to be an experienced hiker, but sensible footwear and reasonable mobility are important.

What is the minimum age for scheduled Highland tours?
Our scheduled group tours are generally for travellers aged 12 and over.
If you’re travelling with younger children, a private Scotland tour may be a better option because the day and itinerary can be organised around your own group.

No. Accommodation is normally separate from the advertised tour price on our multi-day scheduled adventures.
Depending on the tour, we can help arrange accommodation through trusted partners, or you may be able to book your own accommodation within the required collection area.
Always read the accommodation section of your chosen tour before booking independently.
Are attraction tickets included?
Not always. Many optional attraction tickets, such as castles, cruises and certain visitor experiences, are paid separately. That gives you more say over how you use your time.
Exact inclusions vary by itinerary, so check the Included / Not Included section on the individual tour page before booking.
What should I bring to the Highlands?
Highland weather can change quickly. Layers are useful throughout the year, along with a waterproof outer layer and sturdy walking shoes.
Midge repellent can be helpful during the warmer months, while hats, gloves and additional warm clothing are sensible outside summer.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Tours normally operate in Scotland's changeable weather. Rain alone doesn’t mean a tour will be cancelled.
Safety comes first, however. Weather, road closures, attraction access, ferry disruption or other circumstances can occasionally require the route, timing or individual stops to change.
Can I see the Scottish Highlands on a day trip?
Yes. From Edinburgh, the Loch Ness & Highlands Day Tour leaves at 8:00am and returns at approximately 8pm, crossing the Cairngorms to Loch Ness and returning through Glencoe and Loch Lomond. It’s from £96 per person.
From Glasgow, the Glencoe & Highlands Day Tour (9:00am to approximately 5:40pm, from £88) and the Oban, Glencoe & Highlands Day Tour (8:00am to approximately 5:30pm, from £88) head into the western Highlands.
How many people are on a Highland tour?
Our scheduled Highland tours take no more than 16 travellers, so stops, walks and time with your guide feel more personal.
