Three days in the heart of the Highlands. This private itinerary starts on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, goes back in time among the standing stones of Kilmartin Glen, crosses Glencoe to the Glenfinnan Viaduct, and comes home by Loch Ness, a wild nature reserve walk and Pitlochry.

The 3-day itinerary, day by day
Day 1Loch Lomond, Kilmartin Glen & Inveraray
Luss · Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park · Kilmartin Glen · Inveraray Castle
We pick you up and head for Loch Lomond & The Trossachs, Scotland’s first national park. In the village of Luss we go island spotting (including the island that’s home to wallabies), visit an old Viking-age grave and explore the pretty village, before the lochside drive north.
Leaving the park, we go back in time at Kilmartin Glen, with its standing stones and burial cairns, then spend time at grand Inveraray Castle and the lochside village, hearing stories of its past.
Day 2Glencoe and the Glenfinnan Viaduct

A full day in the Highlands. We start at the Falls of Falloch, a waterfall on the river that feeds Loch Lomond, then head north into Glencoe, one of the most beautiful places in Scotland.
At the visitor centre and its turf house you’ll learn how Highlanders used to live, and the story of the Glencoe massacre. Then we go deeper into the Highlands to Glenfinnan, home of the “Harry Potter bridge”, where you may see the train itself cross the viaduct.
Day 3Loch Ness, Creag Meagaidh and Pitlochry

We start at Fort Augustus on the banks of Loch Ness, with a cruise on the loch and the legend of Nessie. Then it’s our walk of the day at Creag Meagaidh (say “Craig Meggy”), a wild landscape where rewilding is bringing back ancient woodland.
Heading south, we stop in Pitlochry, the Highland town Queen Victoria loved on her way to Balmoral, before dropping you off at the end of your tour.

Bespoke private tours of this length (trips of 2 to 3 days) typically cost £3,500–£5,000 in total for the whole group, based on tours booked with us over the last two years. Group size, accommodation, the season and the experiences you choose can change this a lot, so tell us your budget and we’ll plan around it.
What’s included?
Your own guide and private vehicle (with fuel and taxes), planning and booking by your tour coordinator, and 24/7 support. Most bespoke tours also include your accommodation and entry to the places you visit. Food and drink are not included.
Will we see the Harry Potter train at Glenfinnan?
We visit the Glenfinnan Viaduct on day 2, and we can plan the timing so you have the chance to see the train cross it.
Is this itinerary suitable for a family or a large group?
Yes. Most of our private groups are 2 to 8 people, and we also plan tours for solo travellers and groups of 16 or more. Tell us who’s travelling and we’ll plan the vehicle and accommodation around you.
