In a surprising turn of events, the distillery fell into a deep slumber in 1981, its operations halted, and it remained in a state of dormancy until 1989 when small-scale distilling cautiously resumed. The roller-coaster of activity continued between 1990 and 1996, marked by intermittent openings and closures, before finally, in 1996, it appeared to have shut its doors for good. Thankfully, in 1997, much to the jubilation of Ardbeg enthusiasts worldwide, Glenmorangie plc stepped in to rescue the distillery. A dedicated team embarked on the formidable task of restoring and rejuvenating the distillery, complete with a fresh coat of paint to revive its glory.

Blair Athol Distillery graces the entrance to the captivating Scottish Highlands within the scenic town of Pitlochry, in Perthshire. This distillery draws its water supply from the nearby Ochil Hills, the very source that plays a pivotal role for the renowned 'Highland Spring,' a distinguished bottled water provider in Scotland. What sets Tullibardine apart is its unique distinction as one of the select few distilleries in Scotland that conducts the entire single malt production process on a single site, encompassing distillation, maturation, and bottling, offering complete mastery over the whisky-making process. The site's illustrious history dates back to 1488, and it wasn't until 1947 that it crafted its first hand-produced, Highland single malt Scotch whisky.

In 1793, Hugh and John Stevenson arrived at the Hebrides Islands, where they established the Oban Brewing Company, producing their inaugural creation, 'Cowbell Ale.' A year later, they ventured into whisky distillation, beginning a legacy of craftsmanship. The business remained under Stevenson family stewardship for three generations until local merchant Peter Cumpstie acquired it in 1830. With the arrival of the railway in Oban in 1880, improved communication and transportation ushered in a new era, while the distillery maintained its unwavering commitment to quality and tradition.
