Kilchurn Castle & Highland Return
Turn inland from Oban towards Loch Awe and one of Scotland's most atmospheric castle settings.
Kilchurn Castle was built in the 1400s by the Campbells of Glenorchy and today sits dramatically beside Loch Awe, surrounded by mountains.
When local access and ground conditions allow, walk towards the castle and enjoy the exterior and surrounding landscape.
The interior is currently closed while conservation work continues.
Return to Glasgow
Finish the day with one final journey through Highland scenery.
Continue south through the western Highlands and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park before returning to your agreed Glasgow drop-off point.

Is the price per person or for the whole vehicle?
One booking reserves your private vehicle and guide for the day. Prices are for your whole group, not per person. They depend on how many of you are travelling (1 to 8, 9 to 12 or 13 to 16 guests) and when, from £548 per group. See the price table on this page.
You will not share the vehicle with other travellers.
How long is the private Oban & Glencoe tour?
The private tour is approximately ten hours, generally around 8:00am–6:00pm.
Exact timings can vary with traffic, weather, walking and how the private itinerary develops.
Where does the tour pick us up?
Your guide will meet you at the agreed Glasgow pick-up location confirmed for your private booking.
Do we visit Loch Lomond?
Yes. The journey begins through Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park before continuing north into the Highlands.
How much time do we spend in Glencoe?
Glencoe is one of the major parts of the day. Time is normally allowed for viewpoints, storytelling, photographs and opportunities to get outside into the landscape.
As this is a private tour, the precise balance can be adapted around your group and conditions.
Do we have free time in Oban?
Yes. Time in Oban allows you to explore the waterfront, browse shops, enjoy the harbour atmosphere or stop for lunch and refreshments.
Is lunch included?
No. Lunch is paid separately.
Oban offers a wide range of cafés, restaurants and seafood options, and your guide can make recommendations.
Do we visit Kilchurn Castle?
The route includes the Loch Awe and Kilchurn Castle area, subject to local access, weather, ground conditions and the timing of your private day.
Can we go inside Kilchurn Castle?
Not currently.
The castle interior is closed while conservation work continues.
Exterior access and the walking route remain possible when local ground and access conditions allow.
How much walking is involved?
This is an Active Sightseeing experience with short outdoor walking opportunities throughout the day.
The amount can be adapted somewhat around weather, ground conditions and the needs of your private group.
Can we change the itinerary?
Private touring gives your guide much more flexibility around pacing, photographs, walking and how long you spend at individual locations.
Larger route changes should be discussed with the Scotland's Wild team before your tour so we can confirm what is practical within the day.
What should we wear?
Comfortable walking footwear, warm layers and waterproof outerwear are recommended.
West Highland weather can change quickly and may be very different from conditions in Glasgow.
Can we bring luggage?
Small day bags are normally straightforward. If you need to bring suitcases or larger luggage, contact the team before booking so available storage can be confirmed.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Your guide can adapt viewpoints, walking routes, timing and smaller stops according to conditions.
Safety, road access and local conditions always take priority.
What are the private-tour cancellation terms?
For private tours, 25% of the total price is payable if cancelling 61 or more days before departure; 50% from 60–31 days; and 100% at 30 days or less before departure.
Certain third-party arrangements may carry additional non-refundable costs.
