The 12-hour (8am-8pm) Loch Ness & Highlands guided tour from Edinburgh was excellent. There were 7 people on the tour. It was a beautiful day and our Guide, Derek, was exceptional. He kept us informed as we travelled along and he told us the history of some of the areas (e.g., clan feuds). He is also knowledgeable in ecology and geology and has spent time in many of the areas hiking, climbing and learning about the sites. He explained how public lands are owned and managed for preservation and conservation. The trip was excellent, and we hope to come back for another excursion in the future.

Derek was an excellent guide. My daughter Sarah and I learned so much and enjoyed the variety of things we were able to stop and see. We got a great overview of the beauty of Scotland! I’d definitely recommend this.

I can’t say enough good things about our experience on this day tour - it was the trip of a lifetime! It is a small tour normally, but the other group that was scheduled for the day cancelled, and so we got our own personal guide for the day. John was our Tour Guide and he spent the entire day telling us loads of detail about what the areas we were passing through, the locations we stopped in, as well as discussing all kinds of history with my husband. The trip was a real pleasure, I would highly recommend Scotland’s Wild as a tour company and John in particular as a guide!

  • Loch Ness is one of the most desired locations for travelers in Scotland to visit, and for good reason. On your Loch Ness, Glencoe and the Scottish Highlands guided day tour you’ll have the chance of taking a boat trip and hunting for Nessie, taking a short hike in the Scottish Highlands, seeing gorgeous waterfalls, marveling at the rugged grandeur of Glencoe and experiencing many of the marvels that help make Scotland and the Highlands one of the most amazing places on earth.

You’ll be departing from Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city and travelling north into the Scottish Highlands, towards the town of Fort Augustus and Loch Ness.

Not long after leaving you’ll arrive at the doorstep of Scotland’s first National Park, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs where you’ll stop and go for a short 5-minute walk and experience some breath-taking views looking out over Loch Lomond. Here your guide will tell you all about Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, you’ll hear about the history, the wildlife, the culture and what makes this piece of land extra special.

You’ll continue north, meandering along the winding highland roads, along the northern banks of Loch Lomond until you reach Rannoch Moor. This is one of the last remaining true wilderness locations to be found anywhere in Scotland, in fact one of the last remaining in Europe. It’s a beautiful expanse of open boggy moorland, once home to Caledonian Pine Forest.

It's now onto the grandeur of the famous Glencoe mountains and the turbulent history that goes along with them. Your guide will reveal the stories of the MacDonald Clan who once made this beautiful piece of land their home.

Loch Ness and Nessie the Loch Ness monster aren’t too far off. You’ll make your way through the outdoor capital of the Highlands, Fort William and progress north to the famous banks of Loch Ness, where mystery, folklore, mythical or actual creatures await. If you’ve ever wanted to get out on Loch Ness and search for Nessie, today is your lucky day as you’ll have the opportunity to board a boat and take a cruise in search of this elusive and shy creature.

You’ve travelled along the banks of Loch Lomond and through Scotland’s first National Park, you’ve entered the Highlands and marvelled at Rannoch moor and Glencoe, you’ve passed through Fort William and taken a cruise of Loch Ness, the most famous Loch, (lake) in the world and now it’s time to travel east towards the Cairngorms National Park. Your guide will get you out the vehicle and allow you the freedom to take a short hike in the Highlands of Scotland.

After enjoying a lovely walk in the Scottish Highlands, your guide will take you south through the Cairngorms, Blair Atholl, Pitlochry and Perth. During that trip you’ll have the chance to get out and visit some waterfalls and relish in the highlands setting.

Once you’ve enjoyed many wonderful highland locations it’s time to continue south towards Stirling where your guide will reveal stories of how Stirling Castle is one of the most besieged in Scotland, how it enjoys connections with Mary Queen of Scots, King Robert the Bruce, Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobite uprising.

It’s now on to the location it all started, Glasgow. Your guide will drop you off after helping give you a wonderful day exploring some of the most wonderful location in Scotland

The Loch Ness, Glencoe and Scottish Highlands guided day tour may be explored in reverse. After the tour departs Glasgow, we may also pick-up clients in Balloch, Loch Lomond before continuing north along the banks of Loch Lomond.
