West Highland Way Hiking Guide
John is passionate about helping visitors hike the west highland way, in a way that they enjoy.
He believes the whole process of giving value to clients starts at the very beginning, when they first think about their adventure in Scotland. He combines these two beliefs to help visitors have as wonderful a time as possible from their first enquiry to when they've finished the 96 miles (154 km's) of hiking, along Scotland's favourite long distance trek.
About John, by John
I'm a lover of the great outdoors. I've been fortunate and lucky enough to have travelled extensively around the world and explored some of the most beautiful locations there is. Some of my favourites are Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Though really, to me, there's nowhere I'd rather explore than Scotland, my own back yard. When I was exploring these great locations, I came up with the idea for Scotland's Wild. I wanted to help visitors from across the globe enjoy a wonderful and unique experience in the wilds of Scotland. I wanted to get travellers out in the beautiful countryside, away from the roads and out enjoying the land.
John on the West Highland Way
John has hiked and mountain biked the West Highland Way, from start to finish a total of 11 time now. He also spent 7 and half years working with Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, where he spent may days maintaining, enhancing and renewing sections of the West Highland Way and it's infrastructure. Many of the paths you hike, the benches you rest on and the bridges you walk over, John helped build or look after with his own hands. So you could say he knows the West Highland Way pretty intimately.
John won a prestigious tourism award
John was honoured recently with a prestigious award from the National Tourism organisation Visit Scotland. For all his hard work and dedication, they awarded him the Tourism and Hospitality Hero award for West Dunbartonshire. He'll now go on and compete in the final in March 2018 for the National Award.
This is what John say'd after receiving the award
"It’s an honour and a privilege to win a prestigious Visit Scotland, Thistle Award. To be up against so many fantastic individuals from the Tourism & Hospitality industry and come away as the winner is all down to our philosophy of giving as much value as possible to visitors in Scotland. "
